Meet the Bishops and some of the clergy investing their time and energies into the Free Church of England. Renewed strength and confidence for the future came from the few days together. Even though I was the only woman in a few (not all) of the meetings, the structural changes that will come in the months and years to come are encouraging. Oh! before I forget, these other photos are the back yard at Shallowford Retreat House. 
This old house was donated to the Church of England many years ago. It's been preserved quite well, even though it doesn't have many of the modern conveniences, such as numerous plugs in the rooms. It reminded me of where I met Steve, Elim Bible Institute in Upstate New York. The floors creaked, so sneaking up to your room was a "No, no." Hey!! That was 35 years ago :) Good memories!!
While Steve and Gerrard were compelled to do their studies, us girls went shopping and site seeing. We packed a lunch and went to a cute little seaside town called Woodbridge. I've got a super friend in Margarita and her fabulous daughters are just a delight to be with.
Monday morning, August 16, we drove from Catterall to Oxford. Our driving time was quite pleasant, with the sun shining and gradually warming up, the further south we got. We secured our accommodations at Wycliffe Hall and proceeded in the town of Oxford. Oxford has numerous universities, of which one is called Rhodes House. This is where the archives of Roland Allen are kept.
