Barbecue with friends and Lancaster Uni B'ball Girls

Downtown Lancaster at Stella's flat we had our victory barbecue.

Debra (left) and Damla (right) were the official barbecuers - brats and burgers!!

Vasiliki, team captain enjoyed her food and conversation with her friends.

I think all the ladies and "gents" had enough food.   Stella's parents (Paul & Jenny) were there also.

It was so nice to be able to get some sunshine and sit out on the patio.

Sunglasses were needed as "the sun was shining!!!!"

Belen is holding her trophy for being the best English speaking Spanish person on the Basketball team.  ;0)

Vas's trophy says she's the best captain of the Basketball team.

These girls will not be joining the Basketball team next year.  Most of these ladies  will be experiencing internships somewhere and some will be returning home.

Lancaster University official Photo Op

It was a beautiful day for a photo, even with the wind blowing!!  They look so good in their new uniforms.

They decided to add me.  Well, I'm the official scorekeeper and cupcake maker.

Here's some wild and crazy photos!!

I'm not sure what this one was supposed to be but ---- oh well :)

They wanted these to show their crazier side.  Oh what great memories girls!!!

War of the Roses - Lancaster vs. York

This is our evening meal the day before the big game against York.  They are "pumped" to play basketball and win against York.

Fans above the court and fans on the outskirts of the court, Sunday morning at 9:20 a.m.

At the tip off and all through the game, they were determined to win.  With their new uniforms on and new basketballs being used, they were ready to roll......

Lancaster University Women's Basketball in their element....  Below, Chetna is at the free throw line.   As Steve has said to her, "You've improved in your game!!!"

Victory has come and hugs from all the team members is worth it.
Damla gets interviewed by the Lancaster Scan Newspaper on the performance of the team.
Congratulations to all the girls.  They have played hard and have done well.

The final score was
Lancaster 71 and York 24.

Scarecrow Festival in Wray

In  the town of Wray every year they have a Scarecrow Festival.  All the inhabitants of the town make their own scarecrow.  Their is a competition as to who's scarecrow is the best.

The theme this year was "Read Me."  Many were from books that were of ancient times and others were from today's world.

I'm a fond one of pansies, but most of all I thought of my mother-in-law when I saw it.  Her first name is Pansy, but saying "I'm no pansy" made me think, "yes she is!!!"

St. George has quite a history behind him.  Reading his stories of how he stood up for those being persecuted for theirs and his faith made him a great warrior of England.

Here are some of my friends who I walked with through the town of Wray.  From right to left, Delores, Candy and Celia.

Much is written on the royal family and if you can imagine, this is Prince William and Kate discussing her pregnancy.  Below, is the stork presenting the royal family with a new heir to the throne.

Finally, thinking of my husband with his PhD work, here is some computer person that knows the terms and letting you know how to remember them.  ;0)  Writer's block does happen at times!!  Yes he is a stuffed scarecrow!
